Santa Barbara Festival Ballet

Founded in 1971, Santa Barbara Festival Ballet is a youth ballet based in Santa Barbara. Originally the Goleta Civic Ballet, the company was begun by ABT dancers Robert and Carol Hanlin in order to provide performance opportunities to the students of their ballet school. In 1991 the Hanlins retired and turned the school over to Denise Rinaldi and Michele Huse. Huse retired in 2006. In 2010 the Santa Barbara Ballet Center merged with the Santa Barbara Festival ballet as non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.  The highlight of the company’s season is its annual presentation of The Nutcracker Ballet, a staple of the community since 1975.
