Fern Ackerman

Born 1955 in Buffalo, NY. Influential teachers including Jaime Rogers, Kobla Ladzekpo, Murray Louis and Lynda Davis. She was guest lecturer and choreographer at various educational institutions throughout Southern California, including Cal State Dominguez Hills, Harbor Junior College, Pepperdine University and UC Riverside. She states in her bio that she believes her work as an exploration of thought and vision through movement. In 1984 she received the Judith Start Vanguard Award for ensemble choreography as a result of her work Biko, a piece originally choreographed on, and premiered on her company, Big Flood founded in 1985.
