John C Art Ballet

John C Art Ballet (previously The Hartfel Ballet) was founded by Artistic Director and choreographer John Charles Welch. Housed under The Hartfel Foundation, the company has operated as a non-profit charity since 2002. A contemporary ballet company, JohnC Art Ballet forgoes the classics and presents original works in a fluid balletic style.

Welch’s company is also the host of his “Step In the Dark” Dance Program for the visually impaired. The program teaches ballet to blind and visually impaired children ages 11-17 using his Cradle Method. In addition to learning the art of ballet, students learn music appreciation, body awareness, confidence and are given performance opportunities. For more information email:  info@hartfel.org.

Mission:

The Hartfel mission is to facilitate greater awareness of the individual through the arts, in particular the art of ballet. We want to inspire self-worth and a sustaining belief in each individual’s ability to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to each other and our community.
