Ate9 dANCE cOMPANY

Ate9 dANCEcOMPANY was founded by Israeli choreographer, Danielle Agami, in Seattle, Washington in June 2012. After Ate9’s debut of Sally meet Stu in Seattle, the company sought new venues for Agami’s work and found a great potential in Los Angeles, California. The cast is comprised of dancers handpicked by Agami– together they are committed to the research and development of the distinct voice of Ate9. Since its inception, Ate9 was given the blessing by Ohad Naharin to use Gaga as its primary training method and extend it to the various communities it visits.

Ate9’s repertory is built upon the desire to engage newcomers and fans. Agami enjoys framing her work in a traditional theatre setting, just as much as canceling the gap between the audience and the performer. Agami understands the potential that comes through subtlety, as much as the need to ignore boundaries. The work can respect the viewer, but will often surprise. The idea and motivation invites people from all demographics into our circuit.
