Aman Folk Ensemble

The Aman Folk Ensemble (1963/1964-2004) was founded by Anthony Shay and Leona Wood when they merged their respective companies Village Dancers and “Friends of Arabic Dance”. The company was affiliated with UCLA and enjoyed the support of the UCLA Student Activities office in its early years. During its long life, Aman became recognized internationally for its exuberant, authentic recreations of a wide variety of world dance cultures.
