Hilary Thomas

Hilary Thomas grew up in Pasadena and trained with The Pasadena Dance Theatre under the direction of Philip and Charles Fuller and Cynthia Young. She earned degrees in dance and psychology from Santa Clara University and continued her dance training with the Joffrey Ballet. Hilary also danced with Western Ballet in Mountain View and Benita Bike’s DanceArt Company in Los Angeles. In 1999, Hilary choreographed a dance performance to raise funds for a local children’s health organization resulting in the creation of Lineage Dance. Since that time, Lineage Dance has expanded to include the Lineage Performing Arts Center, a comprehensive arts resource and community hub for the greater San Gabriel Valley/Pasadena area and the Pasadena Dance Festival, an annual week-long dance festival that highlights the greater Pasadena/Los Angeles dance community, featuring top teachers and inspiring performers. Hilary has earned awards for choreography (Palm Desert, “Dancing Under the Stars” 2001), the Beverly Hills Outlook selected her as one of top choreographers of 2004 and 2005, and in June of 2006 she received a prestigious “Gold Crown Award” presented by the Pasadena Arts Council. Hilary produced the Brand Library Dance Series and her choreography was selected by the University of Idaho for presentation at the 2007 American College Dance Festival. In 2010, Hilary received the Lester Horton Dance Award for Outstanding Production of a Festival or Series for the Pasadena Dance Festival.
