Danny Daniels

Born in 1924 in Albany, NY, Danny Daniels is an accomplished American Tap Dancer, Performer, and Choreographer. Broadway credits include: Kiss Me Kate, Billion Dollar Baby, and Street Scene, and film credits include: Pennies From Heaven (1981), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) , The Night They Raided Minskey’s.

In the 1950’s Danny Daniels toured as a soloist with Agnes De Mille Dance Theatre. He created Tap Dance Concerto with composer Morton Gould in 1952, which he toured in the US and Europe.

Over the course of his career, Daniels has worked with many notable actors, performers, and dancers.  Christopher Walken was Daniels’ student, and appears tap dancing in Pennies From Heaven, which Daniels choreographed. Other notables include: Liza Minnelli, Steve Martin, Gene Kelly, and Judy Garland.

Awards include: Tony Award for Best Choreographer and Astaire Award for Tap Dance Kid in 1984. Tony Nominations for High Spirits (1964), Annie Get Your Gun (1967), and Walking Happy (1967).
