I grew up in Philadelphia and trained at the School for the Pennsylvania Ballet in the 60’s. After taking a master class from Gloria Newman during college at Temple University, I came to LA to learn from her and became a member of her company from 1973-78. (Prior to 1975, I used my maiden name, Epstein). After leaving GNDT, I danced for Donald Byrd ‘The Group’ , worked in TV and movies, and in the show EVITA for 450+ performances at the Shubert theater in LA (now long gone). After my twin daughters left for college in 2000, I became involved in UCLA’s Performing Arts outreach program to LA public schools, Design for Sharing, and eventually became its president, stepping down in 2010.
Currently, I am a volunteer writing tutor for inner-city kids for creative writing projects and college application essays. I am also working on my own writing in the faint hope that some obscure literary journal will want to publish it.
